If you have ever been to a live golf event and dreamed that you were talented enough to play just as efficiently as the pros do, or if you have increasingly found yourself watching a competition on television fantasizing that you could play alongside with them you may perhaps have the image of golf lessons in your head. This is a sport that just about anybody can compete and is suitable for adults or children and both sexes. There are professional levels, amateur levels, those who play for just fun, and individuals who play competitively with buddies or business clients. Looking for someone to compete with is normally not a problem, and even others prefer to play by themselves. Due to the amazing versatility that golf proffers it is no surprise why loads of people anticipate learning to play golf.

The chief obstacle to learning golf can be the lessons. Sometimes it is not easy to get hold of a skillful qualified coach, and other times when the lessons are not at opportune times and even other times because the cost of lessons is so unaffordable that it is almost not possible to arrange. Still if you are thinking about genuinely trying to learn golf, it is crucial that you invest in a number of good lessons. However you should look for more than a few golf instructors so as to have the best overall results.

If you have begun truly thinking about learning golf, taking lessons from a expert instructor will permit you to acquire some crucial data and tips concerning how to stand appropriately, swing the club properly and find out which clubs you need to use for every shot. The information that an instructor can provide you is valuable. Yet if you are simply not sure about using an instructor you are able to search the web for tips, articles and even videos that can provide you assistance and suggestions. Those who choose to omit the lessons with a skilled instructor typically find that they struggle to actually learn the necessary concepts that are essential.

For children especially it is key to have instruction with a coach at least for a short period of time to gain knowledge of the basics. Some of the other advanced concepts can be learned when they have dominated the fundamentals with a coach and just through practicing playing. This is a great method to save cash, but if you are dreaming on your child becoming the next Nicklaus or Sorenstam it would be sensible to carry on lessons for a good time. Even if you are grown-up thinking about instruction you may well want to pay for a small number of sessions which would permit you to really get your essentials established.

When the basics are established, you don’t have to worry quite so much on taking lessons. On the other hand, if you are not working to develop your skills by sound developed essential skills you are going to be looking at lots of frustration on the golf course as you endeavor to troubleshoot by yourself what you’re doing wrong and why your golf ball is constantly going out of bounds and sandpits. There are a lot of golf courses situated all around the world, which gives you plenty of likelihood to come across a great golf coach to work with.

Putting in a bit of cash into a number of good golf instruction will be truly worth your time when you are attempting to learn golf. The instructions and ideas that they can offer you will prove to be highly invaluable and you are assured to enjoy the time that you spend improving your game. Learning alone is always a great concept and plan, except in a situation like learning golf, it can be a task that is next to impractical.
by Mick Euan Tait

You have probably realized that golf equipment is expensive, but you can save some money by looking for cheap golf accessories. If you have spent a lot of money buying your golf clubs and golf balls, you will not want to spend that much on your golf accessories.

The veteran golfer will have his own golf equipment already but may find that they need a few extra golf accessories. The beginner golfer, on the other hand, after buying their golf clubs and balls, still have to consider all the different golf accessories that they still need to buy.

Your best bet is to look for cheap golf accessories online. Online stores can offer a huge selection of golf accessories and they can keep their prices low as they don’t have the overheads of a high street golf store. The only thing you have to decide on is which golf accessories are necessary and which ones you can buy at a later date.

The golf accessories category is normally every single item of golf equipment excluding the golf clubs, golf balls, and golf shoes. You could find that a few online golf stores put golf bags and golf apparel into separate categories while others will have them in a general golf accessories category.

If you bought a complete set of golf clubs, you might have been lucky in that they included a golf bag. Otherwise, the first accessory that you will need is a golf bag. When you check out online golf stores, you will find plenty of choices but the first thing to decide on is the type of bag you want.

Most popular for the beginner is the carry golf bag or the stand golf bag. The only real difference between the two being that the stand bag has fold-out legs that keeps the bag of off the ground when you take your shot. Next comes the cart golf bag which fits onto a push / pull cart or an electric cart and are sometimes a bit larger – this can be useful if you plan to take along extra gear like waterproofs, drinks, or warmer clothes. The last type of bag is the tour or staff golf bag which are generally only used by the professional golfers’ caddies as they are so large and heavy.

If you go with a cart bag then you will have to buy a golf cart. Electric carts are useful for seniors and people that can’t get around the golf course easily but they are a lot more expensive – also, make sure you charge the battery fully or you will have to push it manually and they are really heavy. If you like walking the course then a push cart is for you and they are reasonably priced. Todays push carts are lightweight, well-built, maneuverable, and they fold up to fit in the car.

That only leaves you with a few items of small cheap golf accessories – a golf glove, golf tees, a divot tool, and golf ball markers. All these golf accessories can be found easily at online golf stores cheaply. If you play your golf in Northern climates, then you will probably need a golf umbrella and a golf towel as you can never guarantee the weather.

If you are just starting out to play golf, you can do without special golf apparel; just make sure that the clothes you use conform to the dress code of the golf club and that they are comfortable for golfing. Remember, to save money, look for cheap golf accessories online.

by Mick Euan Tait

If like most golfers, you want to get more distance with your driver off the tee. So they hit the range and practice their drives and nothing else. The fact is that most shots in a round of golf are from within 100 yards from the pin so they should be practicing their short game more. You can actually lower your handicap by mastering your pitching than you could by increasing your drives by several yards.

Mastering the art of pitching can lower your score. When you can pitch well, you can take 2 strokes instead of 3 by pitching next to the flag. Learning to pitch accurately from the fairway is fundamental to improving your golf game but it requires good distance control which is not always easy to achieve, even for a Golf Swing Guru!

How to Pitch

For a great pitch shot you must position the ball in the center of your stance as you want to get under the ball and get it in the air. Stand with your feet closer together, with an open stance, and place more weight on your left foot. Then aim the club-face at the target and make sure you hit the ball with a perfectly square club-face. The length of your backswing will determine the distance the ball will travel – it may be waist height, shoulder height or a full swing. Hit the ball with a crisp, descending blow to ensure ball then turf contact.

Even though you feet are in an open position, aim the clubfaceat the target, as if your feet were parallel. By opening your stance you are decreasing your backswing; also, you can choke down on the grip which will also decrease your backswing but it will give you more control. Release the club-head openly through impact and then move smoothly into your follow-through.

Select One Club to Use for Pitching

Many golfers mistakenly use too many different clubs for different distances. For shots up to 100 yards you could successfully use a full sand wedge, pitching wedge, or you could even use a 7, 8, or 9 iron by controlling your backswing. But there is no need to complicate matters; a better strategy is to select a distance that you are comfortable with and one club that you can always use to reach that distance.

For instance, let us say that you are an expert at hitting the ball 95 yards with an 9-iron and using a shoulder height backswing. The scheme is that you use this distance as your pitching zone. If you hit a wayward drive on a par-4 you will want to hit the ball out onto the fairway so that your ball stops in your pitching zone. After you have practiced enough you will be able to get the ball close enough to the flag to give yourself a chance of a par. A similar thing can happen on a par 5; instead of going for the green in 2two which is a hard shot, you should hit a smaller club to your pitching zone which still gives you a chance of birdie.

Practice your Pitching Distances

Of course, there will be many times that you will have an approach shot of anywhere between 35 and 95 yards. In these situations you will have to know your pitching distances. Again, it is a good idea to select one club that you can control and regulate the length of your backswing for each distance. You will want to practice this a lot until you can calculate the distances time after time. Pitching, like chipping, is more about control and touch but it is extremely important because you can reduce your score a lot with a good short game. Just remember to practice your putting and The Simple Swing as well!

by Mick Euan Tait

The wind and other weather conditions is just one more factor that can affect your golf game. Although you could have the perfect stance, the correct address position, and the right club selection, if the wind blows too hard in one direction or there’s a cross wind, your ball won’t fly where you think.

Beginner Golfers

Windy conditions can be truly annoying for the beginning golfer. Though the weather is perfect for golf, beginners can have problems controlling the ball, so you can imagine their discontent when the wind strengthens. To become a better golfer, you’ll have to discover how to golf in diverse conditions. Your regular course could be wet or dry throughout the year or it could be affected by high winds. Also, if you play other courses in a different region, you could face different wind and conditions.

Links Courses

If you really want to become a good golfer then you will have to find out how to adjust your game to suit the conditions. As you can imagine, the links courses of Scotland and England can be very challenging because of their exposed position. That is why it took sixty years for an American to win The Open. Those first American Open Champions are still household names because they changed the history of golf evermore. American golfers like Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, and Ben Hogan all came across the Atlantic and mastered the blustery links courses. Since then, The Open has had Champions from many different countries.

The Wind Direction

As golf courses are not laid out in a straight line, each hole can be orientated in a different direction which makes it hard to judge where the wind is coming from. So, the 1st step is to feel where the wind is coming from. On the links you usually get a prevailing wind direction that can be unvarying. Sometimes though, the wind direction changes throughout the day so you have to take that into concern.

On many woodland courses where there are low and high areas to the course, you could face with swirling wind conditions. Also, you could be playing your approach shot from a sheltered point but the green is exposed to high winds. So it’s not always sufficient to check the wind direction and speed where you are playing from, you have to also look to the flag or the trees around the green to get a feel for the wind conditions.

Club Selection

The next step is to select the correct club. The first thing to realize is that a head wind will affect the distance that the ball flies but not as much as a tail wind. Many people believe that a tail wind will help their golf ball fly further than it really does. Actually, you will only gain about 10% distance when playing with the wind but you will loose approximately 20% distance when hitting into the wind. The key to hitting into the wind is to select a lower lofted club and to not strike the ball harder than normal and to adopt a stance with your feet closer together for extra stability. When hitting with the wind choose a higher lofted club than customary.

The wind can be a golfer’s worst enemy, even the pros can have a hard time predicting the wind and how it will affect their ball. Doubtless the most difficult wind condition is the cross wind; it takes a lot of experience and practice to be able to estimate how much you have to compensate in your aim to the target. Playing golf in the wind is just one more factor that makes golf such a interesting and challenging game. To be a great golfer you will just have to learn how to control your ball in the wind, and that implies playing more golf in windy conditions.

by Mick Euan Tait

While warming up for a round of golf, most golfers assume that all they have to do is blast a few drives down the driving range. Basically, before each round of golf you ought to practice swinging different clubs and get aware with the weather conditions. Golf on a calm day is a lot different than on a windy day and your golf game is also influenced by the temperature; whether it is hot or cold. Here are some warm-up tips to practice before beginning your round of golf.

When you warm-up by visiting the range you need to first carry out some stretching movements. Then use a wood and swing the club to and fro numerous times without using a golf ball; you just want to warm up and stretch your muscles. Make a whole golf swing but do not stop after the follow through; continue the swing in the reverse direction and so on.

The Driving Range and Practice Green

You should not start off with a driver because you will want to begin gently. Instead, select a short iron to commence hitting some balls so that your muscles warm up. Gradually continue with your middle irons, long irons, woods, and lastly your driver. Whilst using your driver, keep in mind that the aim is not to attempt to hit the ball as far as possible; instead you will want to be practicing control and accuracy. Like on the course, you have to use control from the tee box; you will no be using your driver from every tee, so on the practice range you have to know how to control your strokes.

The bulk of the golf strokes in a game of golf are made from within one hundred yards from the pin. Therefore you need to also practice your chipping and putting before your round of golf. If possible, you should spend less time with the driver and more time on your short game. The idea about warming up for golf is to achieve a repeatable swing so that you can take it onto the course.

Golf Mindset

The golf mindset is normally overlooked as a warm up method. When you arrive at the first tee, the purpose isn’t to take your frustrations out on the golf ball – that won’t help your game in the slightest. Take time to focus on your game, get tranquil, and stop thinking about your problems. Anxiety or a bad temper can have harmful effects on your golf game.

Warm-Up Do’s and Don’ts

A warm-up session before playing a round of golf isn’t the time to try out new clubs, change your swing, or try out any other new techniques. It’s a moment when you endeavor to play your best game as if you were at the 1st tee. It is okay to attempt a new technique but only if you have been practicing it already, and you want to try it out in your first game. The chief point of the warm-up session is to stretch your muscles, build your assurance, and become focused on the game to follow.

If you believe that you do not need to warm- up before your round of golf, consider how you normally play when you do not warm- up. Did you squander nearly all of the round attempting to make up for bad strokes in the beginning of the round? The warm up is your chance to make your blunders before your game of golf and finish up on your scorecard. By making the time and effort to stretch your muscles and focus your mind, you will play a better game of golf.

Golf swing tips can be found on-line or you can purchase one of the golf swing instructional e-books. Most of the tips on golf swing techniques in these guides have lots of details – more often than not – too much detail. What most of us with a golf swing fault need are just a few basic golf swing tips; whether it is to fix a slice or learn more about iron shots.

5 Tips on How to Drive Long

To be able to shoot lower scores, one of the best ways is to gain more golf distance off the tee. With a shorter distance to the green you will have more chance to score par or better. Naturally, you need accuracy as well as distance or you will be in a worse position to reach the green. The following 5 quick and easy tips will help you drive long off the tee:

(1) Tee the ball up higher and position it off your leading foot’s instep so that you hit the ball on the upswing; (2) Don’t hit the ball with all your power – use a steady rhythm and work on increasing your swing speed; (3) Use the right shaft flex for your swing speed – use a flexible shaft if you have a lower swing speed; (4) Cock your wrists early on the backswing and un-cock them as late as possible on the downswing; (5) Turn your shoulders a full 90 degrees for maximum distance.

5 Tips on How to Master Golf Irons

Mastering the golf irons is an often overlooked topic. You will find many resources available to help you improve your driving or putting but not much importance is placed on golf iron play. Learning to dominate your golf irons is easy with these 5 tips:

(1) Practice on the driving range to know your average distance with each golf iron in your bag; (2) Use the right iron for the distance you want to hit it and use a full swing; (3) Take into account the wind strength and distance as well as other factors like height and slopes; (4) Playing from the rough is different from playing from the fairway – you will need to adjust the ball position, stance, iron loft, and attack angle; (5) Learn proper course management – going for the pin is sometimes not the best option.

5 Tips on How to Improve Golf Short Game

The golf short game is one of the most important areas of the golf game. Being able to hit long and accurate drives is all well and good, but if you can’t chip the ball on the green, all that effort will be wasted. The short game of golf is where you really need to practice, so check out the following 5 tips:

(1) Use a slightly open stance and place your feet closer together; (2) Choose one club (7, 8, or 9 iron) and practice your chipping from different distances with it; (3) From under 50 yards, use a bump and run and get the ball rolling as soon as possible; (4) When playing over a hazard, use a more lofted club with a pitching swing; (5) The length of your backswing will determine the distance the ball will travel.

These tips on golf swing technique cover three areas of the game that are important but there are other areas that you have to learn to dominate. They are bunker or sand trap play, putting, pitching, and learning how to cure a slice or hook (if you have these swing faults.) Golf is an all round game – meaning that you have to be proficient in every aspect of the game. Don’t just concentrate on how to be a long driver; instead practice with every club in your golf bag.

If you are considering taking up the game of golf, there are many things to take in at the beginning. Where do you start if you are a complete beginner? Luckily, there are many resources online to get you started with your golf education.

Golfing Tips For Beginners

The beginner golfer can start off by reading some free golf tips online. Golf Tips For Beginners is a growing resource that you can visit to learn about every aspect of golf. You will find articles and links to specific golf sections for further detailed information. A couple of resources that you will find are links to free golf tips videos and a golf review blog.

Basic Golf Tips

The Basic Golf Tips articles go over the things that you need to know to get underway. The eight articles that cover the basics, start with the scoring system, choosing the correct golf equipment, the different types of golf shots, and golf etiquette.

Golf Resources

At the golf tips for beginners’ page, you will also find some carefully chosen golf resources. There are eBooks specially written for the beginner golfer, the senior golfer and the lady golfer. You will find links to the best golf balls and golf clubs for beginners.

Golfing Equipment

To start with, you will obviously need some golf equipment. The important items are golf clubs, tees, golf bag, and balls. At the start, you don’t necessarily need to buy them; you can rent them out from the local golf course. Although, if you are serious about learning golf, then buying a good golf clubs set, balls and a golf bag will improve your game.

If you take the decision to invest in golf equipment you will find that there are hundreds of options. Most of the top brand name golf manufacturers spend millions trying to get you to buy their equipment. But don’t rush out and spend thousands of dollars on golf clubs that might not help your game.

If at all possible, start off with a good set of golf clubs that are designed with the beginner in mind. Sometimes, they are called game improving clubs and they are designed to be more forgiving for the beginner. You can get them tailor made for your physical size and swing speed by customizing the clubs with the correct shaft flex and type.

Hence, for your basic golf education, check out what the golf tips for beginners website has to offer. There will be more articles added and more golf reviews at the blog to help you figure out what golf related products are a good investment.

Many avid golfers that can’t get enough of golf and who are considering uniting their passion of golf with a vacation, can learn how to plan the perfect golf vacation from this article. All that will be left to decide is if you want it to be a family golf trip or a golf buddies trip.

Before you jump in the car or plane to start hitting golf balls in the sunshine of a foreign country or even a different state, the potential golf vacationer has to think about what the ideal golf trip will included so that you can plan the perfect golf vacation.

As with any holiday, planning a golf trip ought to consist of some key elements; how you are going to pay, the estimated cost, the length of stay, any extras, etc. One thing to consider is what friends or family members do if they don’t play golf. The first question to ask yourself is: Will we be golfing in the mountains, by the coast, or on the famous links of Scotland.

Some basic planning will eliminate many small problems and can greatly improve the chances of a worry-free vacation. As you begin to plan the perfect golf vacation it may be best to write down some thoughts about an ideal golf trip, breaking the subject into a few areas to focus on. Here are some categories to get started with:

* Set a general time of the year for the trip (a few months in the future; a year in the future)

* Decide how many days or rounds of golf the trip will include (don’t overdo it!)

* Decide on a range of prices for the full trip ($1500 to $3500, $4000 to $6000, for example)

* Decide on how many people will be in the group

* Decide on who will go on the trip – just golfers, family etc.

* Gather some golf trip information from magazines, the library, Web sites etc.

* Ask friends who have been on a golf vacation if they made their own plans, used a travel agent, purchased an all-inclusive golf vacation etc.

One way to plan a golf trip is by making all the arrangements yourself; travel, accommodation, and golf activities. Below are some tips if you decide to make your own arrangements.

If you decide to drive to the destination of your golf vacation, you will be able to carry all your golf equipment in the car with you, which will solve your transportation needs. If this is the way that you decide to get to your golf site, take a minute to check that your golf club set is complete. It may sound obvious, but it would not be much fun when you arrive at a beautiful golf location, to find out that your putter is missing because one of your kids took it out of your bag to play with.

If you are not using the services of a travel agent, then you should make your arrangements by contacting a local organization in the area that you want to visit. As an example, golfers can contact the South Carolina group that specializes in golf vacations in Myrtle Beach. You can use this method for other areas as well, like golf courses in the state of Arizona. The area around Phoenix has comparable assistance as do the many golf resorts in the area.

You would first select your golf courses and then make contact with the Golf Director at your choice of accommodation. They will be able to book your tee times and your rooms right over the phone. This combines your own decisions and using the expertise of golf vacation specialists and their local knowledge.

You may find yourself with a few challenges and extra work if you do the planning on your own, but you will take pleasure in the extra freedom and sense of success. You can set your sights high and then retreat to a more realistic level if your budget isn’t enough for a golf trip to Scotland, Portugal, or Hawaii.

Once you have your accommodation in place, you should plan to play courses that are within a practical distance; the least amount of traveling to and from the golf courses is essential. These arrangements should be made as early as possible so that your group has the best opportunities to be had. If you change your mind and you wait too long to change your plans, you could end up with undesirable rooms and tee times. Here are some recommendations for acquiring the accommodation first:

* Instead of a hotel you could consider a rental house with enough room for everyone

* Try to have a separate bed for each person

* Consider the driving time to and from the golf courses if you choose a rental home over hotel rooms on or near a golf course

* Consider early morning tee times if you want an additional 18 holes in the afternoon. Being close to the house makes 36 holes doable

* Plan for accommodation even earlier if you plan to play golf and watch a major tournament that is taking place in the area. Combining your trip with a PGA tournament adds some extra flare to a golf vacation.

One more thing to take into consideration when you plan the perfect golf vacation; will you play one round a day, two rounds, or can you play as many as you wish? Make sure you have this detail arranged before leaving. Finally, make sure you fully understand what exactly is included in your golf vacation and what is not. Taking a few minutes to get all the details right will eradicate the small problems that you may encounter once you are at your golf destination.

by Mick Euan Tait

In this article, I am going to discuss the top 4 options for buying cheap golf clubs so that you can save some money on golfs biggest investment. Maybe you have considered eBay for cheap golf clubs but I personally prefer the options below to secure the best golf clubs at the best price and condition.

By all means, you can check out what is on offer at eBay but take into consideration the following top 7 online golf equipment stores that offer great golf club discount rates. Generally, most online golf stores can give you a good golf clubs discount, so let’s look at the different types of golf clubs and my top 4 options for cheap golf clubs.

The first option for many golfers is to buy new clubs from the top golf manufacturers, like Nike, TaylorMade, Ping, or Callaway. Obviously these are not cheap golf clubs but you can still find some great deals if you know where to look.

The latest top brand name clubs are very expensive but there is the option of buying the previous model with a great golf club discount price. Let’s take an example with the Nike drivers; the Nike SQ Sumo Squared 5900 driver is sold for more than $400 but the previous version, the Nike SQ Sumo Squared 460 driver is sold for only $200 or less. You will find these golf clubs for sale and at closeout price at online golf stores like TGW or ScoreLow.

Option number two is selecting a decent second tier brand name golf club. Although there is some debate as to what is considered a top name and a second tier name golf company, let’s say that some second tier brands are Maxfli, Adams Golf, Bridgestone, Hippo, Mizuno, Nickent, Tour Edge, and G.R.I.P. These are quite cheap golf clubs but of very good quality and you can see them at InTheHole or at TGW.

G.R.I.P. is worth a look as they are less well known that the others. When it comes to cheap golf clubs, for the money, playability, innovation, and custom fitting options, G.R.I.P. is at the top of my list. These clubs are designed exclusively for the beginner or recreational golfer as they are so forgiving and easy to play; they bring the fun back into golf – you will only find these clubs at the G.R.I.P. official site.

The third option, and a better bet than eBay, is to buy preowned golf clubs. There are two excellent online golf stores that can be trusted to sell you the best preowned golf clubs; GlobalGolf and 3Balls. Both companies accurately grade and rate their clubs then they are cleaned, inspected, come with a new grip if necessary, and sometimes with a new headcover. You also get a warranty and 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.

Consider the fourth option on my list – cheap golf club clones. Although there are several golf club clone manufacturers, the one that stands out from the rest is Pinemeadow Golf. The make the best high quality custom built clubs that are comparable in performance and features to the top brands but cost a fraction of the price. Ping, TaylorMade, Cleveland, Callaway, and Odyssey are a few of the top brands that they clone.

These are my top 4 options when you are looking for cheap golf clubs. For the best golf clubs discount price, you can’t go wrong with any of these options. You could choose from the top brands of golf clubs for sale or with closeout prices, cheap golf clubs from the second tier manufacturers, preowned golf clubs, or the highest quality cheap golf club clones.

by Mick Euan Tait

To save some money, why not consider searching for free golf instruction online. After all, the game of golf can be an expensive hobby. You could save money by buying cheap golf clubs on sale but there are always more things to buy like golf balls, a golf bag, golf tees, and so on.

Just when you think there are no more expenses, you still have to spend money on green fees and, probably, fuel costs to get you to the golf course. Therefore, in this article I am going to show you where to find some free golf instruction online.

If there is a certain area of the golf game that you want to perfect, like how to grip the golf club, you can usually find some help at online forums. By searching for “golf forums”, even though you will get a million or so results, the most popular golf forums will generally be on the first pages. Visit several of them to see if the question that you want answered is there and that the answers help you. You can always register for free and then ask your own question.

The next method for looking for free golf instruction online is by using Google search. Most people are not specific enough when they search; instead of searching for golf grip, where you will get many results not related like places to buy golf grips, search using quotation marks or inverted commas. Taking the golf grip as an example, search more specifically for “how to grip a golf club” or maybe “gripping the club” and the results will be very relevant to what you are looking for.
