« Golf Packages To Take Advantage Of   Best Disc Golf Discs – Choosing Which Discs To Throw »

by Jason Japinski

From the many types of disc golf discs available, its hard to choose the best one that will fit you. Will you opt for professional discs or the beginner discs? In choosing the best disc golf discs for you, know first your level of skill in playing. Dont simply follow a professional disc golf players choice.

There are a few factors to consider before choosing the best disc golf disc you should be throwing. Don’t worry, it’s easy to figure out what you should be using. There are 3 things you need to consider which are the weight, stability, and your ability level. All three of these factors will help you choose the best discs.

First, lets take a closer look at the weight of disc you should be throwing. Disc weights vary from 150 grams to about 180 grams. The weight has a significant effect on the stability and flight pattern of the disc. Lighter discs that weigh 150 to 165 grams are more stable and manageable. Discs heavier than 165 grams are less stable and trickier to control.

Every disc has a stability rating and this translates to which way the disc flies. The ratings go from a 3 to -3. Discs that have a rating close to 3 or -3 are the very unstable discs and are harder to control. Discs with a stability rating closer zero are more stable and easy to control. It’s also good to note that discs with a rating of negative 3 will go right, and ones with a rating of 3 will go left naturally.

Now it’s time to figure out where you fit into this equation. The best disc golf discs for beginners would be the lighter discs that are less than 165 grams and have a stability rating close to zero. These are easily controlled and will help you learn to control your throws.

For your average player, you will want to go with a disc that it is the middle. A heavier disc with a stability rating of around 2 will be more suitable for you. Not only will you be able to control the disc at your level, you will be able to use advance techniques as well. Or, you can try a light disc with a stability rating close to 3 or negative 3. You can throw lighter discs farther than heavier ones, but you need to try each one to see which fits you best.

For the professional type player, this could be obvious. Opt for a heavy disc with a higher stability rating. Every professional player should have a wide collection of disc golf discs to choose from. These professionals carry with them a bagful of different discs and each serve a different purpose.

Before choosing the disc that is most suitable for your skill level, test the different weight and stability that works for you. There are discs designed for every purpose including long distance, approach, and putting. With practice, you have a better chance of improving your skill if you have the right disc that works for you. Its easy to find the best disc golf discs if you know exactly what you need.
