Having a great swing in golf can be a curse. I know many people who have great swings but can’t convert on the golf course. It’s almost a curse where you have the mechanics down but you just can’t score well. This proves that there’s something else out there we need.
After years of teaching, it has become increasingly apparent that the game is being approached incorrectly. You see, we all need to take a step back and ask the question How do the pros reach such stellar levels and my game is lackluster at best?
First of all, these guys eat, drink and sleep golf. They hit thousands of balls a day. Secondly, they have talent. Third, a coach, But more importantly, they know how to take practice to the real world, and below is the trick.
So the trick is taking what you learn on the range to the course. The real key to this is to imagine yourself on the course when you are on the range. Imagine the shot you are getting ready to hit.
Most of us will start to feel a little pressure…and that’s great…this is what we want. It means we are really practicing and want to get better. What you are now searching for is that perfect shot, the MOMENT….and it’s found in your pre-shot routine.
Now, go and hit the ball. If it does not behave like you planned, do not get discouraged. It simply means you dont have the shot in your bag. Keep practicing this routine until you get it. I assure you better scores to come on the course. It will also show you that ALL of us think we have a typical 150 yard shot.but most of us just dont.
