« Appropriate Retirement Gifts For Golfers   How To Choose The Best Golf Clubs – Tips To Choosing The Right Golf Club To Improve Your Swing »

by Stewart K Tyrone

Golf is an ever popular game, more and more people play it every year, but unfortunately by not observing some golf swing basics many people do not play very well.

Golf is a game of many parts and the main challenge is to become competent in all areas, especially the short game.

The driver is the longest club in the bag but is difficult to hit well consistently even Tiger Woods occasionally pulls one into the trees, so for beginners there is only a slim chance of hitting the fairway on a consistent basis. Many people opt for a 3 or even 5 wood when starting out, they have more loft and are easier to hit.

It has been proven that for every 6 balls struck of the tee 2 will finish in the water and another two will be lost in the trees.

If you practice little but play often then and you have a bad temper then quite likely you will wrap your driver around the nearest tree after most drives.

So how can you master the perfect drive? Let’s look at a few golf swing basics to help the cause.

A critical step to take is to make sure you are teeing the ball on a high tee. If you are using one of those deep headed drivers then this is especially important.

Many golfers tee the ball far too low wich often produces a hook or one of those annoying scuffed shots where the ball travels about 20 feet, just enough to reach the very long rough just in front of the tee.

Every beginner is familiar with the scuffed shots that bump just a few feet in front of them.

The next step in the golf swing tips is to move the ball forward in your stance. Many golfers will put the ball right in the middle of their legs, straight out in front of them.

For a driver you want to sweep the ball off the tee putting it in the middle of your stance makes this impossible.

Hitting the ball from the bottom makes it easier to get it up into the air.

This in turn, allows you to get more distance on the ball. While these golf swing basics won’t turn you into Tiger on the tee, they’ll definitely help you at least get some distance on the ball.

Also make sure that you address the ball squarely with the clubface to avoid any unnecessary hooks or slices.

If this happened there would not be so many golfers searching through the woods for their ball.

Hold your club up by the ball when you address and you’ll see how straight you’re holding the club.

Take these golf swing tips into consideration the next time you hit the links. Hopefully with a little practice doing it the right way, you can start to shave strokes off of your game.
