« Your Guide to Beginning Putting   Get The Most From Your Golf Clubs »

by golfmasterjj

As you can imagine, one of the most important things that you can do to improve your golf game is improve your putting skills. You could improve your gaming skills if you practiced regularly and took care to change some minor areas of the game. The moment you know what is expected of you, it is time to go on practicing till you are completely thorough with the skills. In case you are not aware, a great putting talent has a lot to do with a winning long shot.

Your next job is to go on practicing the newly-acquired skills till such times that you have completely harnessed it. It is worthwhile to remember that to improve your long shot you need to have excellent putting skills.

Once you have learnt the skill of hitting the ball by the center of the club, you need to make sure that you hit it in a straight line towards the target. This means if the ball needs to go 2 feet away from you towards the lake, you would not want to aim the ball towards the tree beside it. You may think this sounds a bit strange, but many people do not squarely approach the ball to the target.

How did they miss the shot, is the next question which crops up in their minds.Even a slight deviation would put your putting skills to jeopardy as the ball would have missed the target and gone elsewhere.

This is mostly ignored by people even when they miss the target by a marginal error.Though most people do not realize this when their hit is slightly off center, but this requires more practice for improvement. The slightest deviation from the target results in a missed shot and of course an increase in your handicap.

Though not taken seriously by many players when they are marginally off their targets, but you need to put in more practice, if you wish to improve on this area. And you have added to your handicap. Start focusing on this area by giving more time to practice. You could improve your putting skills anywhere you like ? A visit to the driving range is unlikely to help you while you are practicing this skill.

Learning how to accelerate the club head when you are about to make the contact with the ball is the second skill you need to master while improving your putting skills. Slowing down the club just prior to hitting the ball is a common error while playing the game. This usually causes a fall in momentum which disables the ball to hit the target.

One of the big mistakes which many people make is to reduce the force of the club just when it is about to make contact with the ball. You would lose the force needed for the ball to hit the target if you slow down. Once you learn to accelerate your club before it hits the ball, it is adequate in improving your putting skills and should improve your subsequent games of golf.
